Water Sampling
To ensure that the quality of water is of compliance with Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSDW), the CCWD collects and analyzes water samples monthly.
Type of Tests
- Physical Test conducted to determine the physical attributes of water as to turbidity, color, and odor
- Chemical Test measures the chemical and metal contents of water as to pH, alkalinity, acidity, hardness, total dissolved solids, the presence of iron, manganese, calcium, magnesium, carbonate, bicarbonate and chloride
- CCWD measures residual or remaining chlorine in water at designated points all through its distribution
network daily. A chlorine residual is necessary to control bacterial growth. The term "free" means the
chlorine is available in an unreacted state. This unreacted form is the active disinfectant that protects
the water from bacterial growth.
A portable chlorine testing kit is being used upon drawing samples from tap.
Drawing of Samples
For Physical-Chemical Tests, samples are drawn from pumphouses to monitor the quality of water coming from the source before distribution.
For Bacteriological Tests, samples are drawn from concessionaires' faucets to ensure that water quality is maintained all the way to the tap. List of samples vary per testing and are chosen randomly.
Testing Center
Water samples undergo testing in laboratories accredited by the Department of Health.
